the most perfect camping weekend I have ever enjoyed. Beautiful weather, beautiful spot. We traveled to Knob Noster State Park, about 1.5 hours east of KC (right next to Whiteman AFB). The Artiste had hiked there but I’ve never been; it was quite nice. Small but lots of families and good facilities for car campers. The kids met some friends and biked all over the place, the baby kept trying to get lost in the woods, and we relaxed around the fire, experimenting with our new pie iron (the cherry pie recipe is really good). Several short hikes perfect for toddlers and young children rounded out our stay.
So refreshed and ready to tackle school and my laundry pile and the house repairs that await us.
Happy Monday!

Comment by amy h October 9, 2006 @ 8:13 pmFun to see shots of your weekend! My husband took a bunch of high school kids, my son and dog on a camp out as well. It was a perfect weekend for that sort of thing- actually any sort of thing really!

You make me want to camp.
Me, the girl that freaks out if the motel sheets are remotely “scratchy”.
Looks like a wonderful time. sigh.
Comment by capello October 10, 2006 @ 5:08 amIt’s been so hectic here I haven’t been able to post :) Your camping trip sounded incredible..your photos were lovely and since I am “catching up”..loved the dia de los muertos photo you posted. Poison Ivy showing up yet? HOPE NOT! It’s always refreshing to take a few minutes to see what you’re up to. I am so glad I did. It’s one of the highlights!
Comment by Ingrid October 10, 2006 @ 8:11 pmBeautiful shots of a beautiful weekend. And pie irons - they are the GREATEST! Our favorite is pizza in the pie iron. You can’t put too much cheese, however, or it all oozes out the sides.
