Last night we enjoyed the company of the Artiste's high school pal, Annie, who jets to KC from San Fran every few months for work. She gifted us with a very nice zinfandel (the lady knows her wine), which we enjoyed with burgers on the grill, baked beans and corn on the cob. The Artiste made tapioca pudding for dessert - yum!

We always have fun dissing Patrick Swayze and other celebs people love to hate, and this visit was no exception. We discovered our mutual adoration for gofugyourself (simply the snarkiest, funniest celeb-mocking blog EVER), and season 5 of Sex and the City (season 6 was crap - totally unrealistic of Big to come to his senses!).

She's planning another trip in less than 2 weeks and wants to hit my favorite thrift stores with me - yes!

Here's Annie and the Artiste in front of the Nelson. And no, he doesn't wear that hat anymore since I told him he looked like a K-fed wannabe.

The David Austin roses are prolific this year. This is "Teasing Georgia", and she is lovely. They don't last long when cut, but are too beautiful to resist.

The fort has all 4 legs set in concrete now, and is ready for play!  They've been climbing on it all morning.  Still to come are the climbing walls on the sides, but it doesn't seem to matter to them right now - they've made a flag from an old dishtowel and stick, and pulled the rope ladder in behind them.  I might not see them again until lunch :)

to ostensibly keep them out of the house and in the yard for more than 5 minute stretches, the Artiste has designed and started construction on a play tower/fort of sorts for our 3 littles. It’s pretty cool.

We were working on it this morning but now it’s raining.

Our plan is to build in stages, with part one to be finished this summer (that’s the largest tower, with the climbing holes - inside will be a jail!). We’ll see. There are so many other things we want to do: pour a patio, landscape said patio, continue the fence around remaining 2 sides of the yard, blah blah blah. House stuff never ends, does it?

So I switched from Blogger, as I was having a terrible time editing posts and uploading images. More to come!
